Syracuse back up to #6 in this week's AP basketball poll

The return of James Southerland and a couple of high-profile conference wins have propelled the Syracuse Orange up the national rankings after almost falling out of the top ten last week.

In the latest Associated Press college basketball poll, the Orange are back up to #6. This comes on the heels of their defeats of Notre Dame last Monday and St. John's Sunday afternoon. In the latter victory, SU welcomed senior forward James Southerland back to the active roster after he won his appeal Friday afternoon and was reinstated from academic ineligibility.

The Orange are ranked one slot lower in the coaches poll, coming in at #7 this week.

Here are the top 25 teams in The Associated Press' college basketball poll, with first-place votes in parentheses, records through Feb. 10, total points based on 25 points for a first-place vote through one point for a 25th-place vote and last week's ranking:
