ONONDAGA CO. -- The New York State Department of Transportation has announced construction details to replace the bridge deck on Route 370 over the Seneca River between the Towns of Salina and Lysander in Onondaga County.

The project is scheduled to start in May and will take drivers on a nine-mile detour.

The NYSDOT says the work will be done in two stages. The eastbound lane will be kept open for most of the duration of the project.

Westbound traffic will be directed on a nine-mile detour. The detour will take drivers along John Glenn Boulevard, Onondaga County Route 57, NY Route 31 and NY Route 631. Signs will be up to direct drivers where to go.

The NYSDOT expects the construction project to last from mid-May to November. It estimates it will take about 12 weeks of work on each lane of the existing two lane bridge.

During the construction period, the bridge will be completely closed, with no travel allowed in either direction for two three-day periods to pour and cure the new concrete deck.
