They say basketball is a game of runs, and the Syracuse Orange absolutely exemplified that on Wednesday night.

Leading by just two points at 16-14, the Orange then rolled for 13 unanswered points, all part of a 27-2 run to beat Providence 84-59 at the Carrier Dome on Wednesday night.

The Orange was led by two double-double efforts as C.J. Fair scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Michael Carter-Williams scored 15 points to go along with 12 assists.

James Southerland scored 20 points off the bench and Brandon Triche added 14 for the Orange, now sporting a 22-4 record and a 10-3 mark in Big East play.

SU led 16-14 when James Southerland hit a jump shot, the next time Providence would score, they'd be down 29-16. After that Friar hoop, Syracuse scored 14 more unanswered points for a 43-16 halftime lead.

Of course, the win sets the stage for the big showdown Saturday when over 35,000 fans are expected to watch Syracuse and Georgetown play for the final time in Big East play at the Carrier Dome.

The Hoyas topped DePaul by 20 on Wednesday night and are tied with SU for first place in the Big East standings.
