Woman crashes into taxi while going wrong-way on I-81 near Hiawatha Blvd.

Syracuse Police arrested a woman after she drove the wrong way on Route 81 North and crashed into a taxi with two passengers plus the driver at about 2:45 am on February 23.

The crash happened near Hiawatha Boulevard, where 44-year-old Linda Grimaldi was driving south in the northbound lane of Route 81, according to police.

No one in the taxi was injured, but Grimaldi suffered a broken leg and was treated at Upstate Hospital. Police arrested Grimaldi and charged her with driving the wrong way on a one way, reckless driving and driving while intoxicated.

She was released on traffic tickets and is due back in traffic court at a later date.

Route 81 North was closed at the scene of the crash for about an hour.
