CORTLAND, NY (AP) -- A 44-year-old man has been found guilty of using rope and plastic bags to asphyxiate his wife in a shed on their Central New York property.
YNN cable television news reports that a Cortland County jury on Thursday convicted Keith Pottorff of murder in last July's slaying of 53-year-old Janet Pottorff.
Authorities say Pottorff hogtied his wife, connected a rope from her neck to her ankles and taped plastic bags over her head. When she failed to show up for work, state police found her body in a shed on the couple's property in the Cuyler, 23 miles south of Syracuse.
Officials say Keith Pottorff went on a three-day alcohol and drug binge after killing his wife.
He faces 30 years to life in prison when he's sentenced next month.
