SYRACUSE -- The Syracuse men's and women's lacrosse team both hit the road on Saturday, and both were successful in their respective matchups.

The SU men opened their Big East part of their schedule with a 13-11 win over St. John's as a part of the Whitman's Sampler Independence Classic, improving their record to 3-1. SU senior Jojo Marasco had four assists and one goal, leading the team with five points. Senior defenseman Brian Megill also scored his first goal of the year.

The men are back in action next Saturday against Johns Hopkins in the Carrier Dome at 1 p.m.

The SU women held Towson scoreless in the second half en route to a 10-3 victory, improving their record to 3-2 this season. The Orange forced 25 Towson turnovers, which played a big part in that scoreless second half. Senior Michelle Tumolo scored two goals and had one assist.

The women welcome UCONN to the Carrier Dome for their Big East opener on March 22nd.
