LIVERPOOL -- As the heartbreak of the Central New York community continues over the murder of a Liverpool school librarian, the family of Lori Bresnahan has released a statement. The family asks for privacy during this time.

"We are overwhelmed with the community's support and desire to help out at this difficult time. However, protecting our privacy is critical and we ask that no fundraisers or public attention be brought to our family. We recognize that these offers are well-meaning and we appreciate the sentiment but ask that you respect our need for privacy above all else at this time. Thank you," the family said in a statement sent out by the Liverpool Central School District.

David Renz, 29, is charged with killing Bresnahan and raping a 10-year-old girl. He’s accused of removing an electronic monitoring device before kidnapping Bresnahan and the girl as they were leaving a gymnastics class at Great Northern Mall.
