The Connecticut Huskies have only themselves to play for this year. Probation has the Huskies banned from the Big East and NCAA Tournaments.

So you could call the rivalry finale against Syracuse their own version of the NCAA Tournament.

That said, UConn stifled Syracuse by a score of 66-58 Wednesday night at the XL Center in Hartford. It's UConn's first win over Syracuse since the 2011 Big East Tournament.

The game marked the final time for the forseeable future between the two bitter rivals who have met 91 times since 1955. Syracuse has won 54 of those games.

The Huskies shot a blistering 58% from three point land, Ryan Boatwright and Omar Calhoun combined for six three pointers.

The Orange was paced by Michael Carter-Williams who fouled out after scoring 15 points with 5 rebounds. James Southerland was 4-9 from downtown, good enough for a 14 point night.

Syracuse is now 20-4 overall and 8-3 in Big East Conference play. The road doesn't get much easier for SU either with a road date at Seton Hall on Saturday night.
