SYRACUSE -- The Syracuse Crunch have acquired a familiar face as the Tampa Bay Lightning sent forward Kyle Wilson to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for forward Dan Sexton, announced today by vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman.
Sexton was with the Crunch during the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 seasons, where he appeared in 92 games and recorded 63 points (23g, 40a). The 5-foot-9, 180-pounder has played in 27 games thus far this season with the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Sexton has scored five goals and dished out 16 assists, and two of his goals have come on power play opportunities. Over the past seven games, the forward has recorded eight points (two goals, six assists).
During Sexton’s AHL career, he has played in 128 games with the Admirals, the Manitoba Moose and the Syracuse Crunch. He has accounted for 32 goals and 88 points.
Sexton has skated in the NHL for the Ducks in 88 career games, with 13 goals and 32 points during a two year span. Sexton says he is excited about the role he can play in the Crunch's playoff run, and is impressed by the changes made at the War Memorial.
"A little bit has changed, mostly in the arena the locker room area is awesome, it's so different and so much better they really put a lot of time and effort into it and money, it really shows and investment in the team," Sexton says.
The Crunch are grateful to have Sexton back skating in Syracuse and hope that he can continue to put up the numbers that he currently is putting in the stat sheet.
