SYRACUSE -- Derrick Coleman was in attendance for SU's 76-71 victory over Marquette, enjoying the game until we here at CNYcentral.com let him in on a little rumor that he wasn't aware of. "What are your thoughts about SU potentially going to the Big Ten?" we asked.
Coleman responded he had never even heard of that rumor, that Saturday was the first he had heard of it. We asked what he thought about it, and before Alex Dunbar could even finish his sentence, Coleman responded with a bold "No!".
Clearly D.C. is looking at it from a basketball point of view and what the move would mean for the traditional Big East rivalries the Orange and its fans have become accustomed to. Since Notre Dame said no to the Big Ten, Syracuse's name has been floated around as a potential candidate for expansion as much as any other team out there. The University would see a significant increase in revenue by joining the Big Ten.
