UTICA -- It is championship weekend for Section III girls basketball, and all day Saturday in Utica title games in all classes determined who would represent Central New York against the rest of the state.

It was a barn-burner in Class AA as Cicero-North Syracuse star play Breanna Stewart blocked a Corcoran shot at the buzzer allowing the Northstars to hold on for a 54-52 victory in a rubber match from the season series.

In Class A it was the two Maggies, Maggie Reagan and Maggie Brown leading Cortland to the title over New Hartford 57-42.

A dynasty was restored in Class B as South Jefferson edged Jordan-Elbridge for the Section III title.

Class C saw Utica Notre Dame pull away from Thousand Islands later for the crown.

In Class D the seventh seeded Hamilton Emerald Knights continued their storybook run, topping New York Mills 40-30.
