NEW YORK CITY -- The Syracuse Orange play their first post-season game of the 2009-2010 season today. After a regular season-ending loss at the hands of Louisville, Saturday, the team and its legion of fans are looking for today to be the start of a nine game winning streak in the post-season. While awaiting their turn to play, SU picked up some hardware, with coach Jim Boehiem earning Big East Coach of the Year honors and Wes Johnson earning Big East Player of the Year.
SU will face arch-rival Georgetown at Madison Square Garden at noon. Its the third meeting between the teams this year. SU has won the previous two contests. The game will air on ESPN. Our Niko Tamurian and Alex Dunbar are in New York for the games and will have complete post-game coverage.
A lot of SU fans are there as well. The video link on this story is a report from Alex Dunbar on SU's fans in the Big Apple attending the game.
We expect a lot of Central New Yorkers will take a break from the work day to watch the game. Drop us an email at news@cnycentral.com to let us know what you are doing for today's game. If you have any photos, send them along as well. Or, you can logon to http://share.cnycentral.com/ to post your photos for all of Central New York to see.
While many bars and restaurants will be a place that fans will gather to take in the game, the folks at Auburn Public Theater tell us they will open the theater for fans today. You can join them at the theater at 108 Genesee Street in Auburn where you can see the game on the big screen. Admission is free.
