BOSTON, MASS. -- Five different players recorded multiple goals to lead the eighth-ranked Syracuse women's lacrosse team to a 17-11 victory against No. 18 Boston University at Nickerson Field on Saturday, Apr. 3. The Orange (6-3, 1-0) used a 7-1 scoring run in the first half to take control of the game, as it recorded its second consecutive victory.

"We were tested on the road by a ranked opponent and we played well," said Syracuse head coach Gary Gait. "We finished the game strong."

Senior Christina Dove (Bel Air, Md.) led the Orange with six goals and extended her streak of consecutive games played with a goal to 48. It is the second time she has scored six goals in a game this season. Junior Tee Ladouceur (Slingerlands, N.Y.) and freshman Michelle Tumolo (Mullica Hills, N.J.) each added five points. Ladouceur finished with two goals and three assists, while Tumolo netted three goals and dished out two assists.

After Boston University (5-6) took a 2-0 lead, Tumolo tied the score with back-to-back goals. The Terriers responded with two consecutive goals to regain their two-goal advantage before freshman Tegan Brown (Perth, Australia) netted her first goal of the game at the 16:29 mark to cut the lead to one and spark Syracuse on a 7-1 scoring run. Following Brown's goal, senior Halley Quillinan (Glenmont, N.Y.) converted on two consecutive free position attempts. Boston University's Tracy Landy netted her fourth goal of the half to tie the game at 6-6, but the Orange answered with four consecutive goals to end the half. Dove, Brown and Ladouceur all found the back of the net during the run and senior Jackie DePetris' (Radnor, Pa.) goal with 5:46 remaining gave Syracuse its largest lead of the half, 10-6. The Terriers had a chance to cut into Syracuse's lead, but Orange goalkeeper Liz Hogan (Victor, N.Y.) made a save with one second on the clock to preserve SU's four-goal advantage.

The Terriers outscored the Orange, 4-2, in the first 10 minutes of the second half to cut the lead to 12-10, but that was as close as BU could get. Dove and Tumolo netted unassisted goals to increase the lead to 14-10. Following Landy's sixth goal of the game, Ladouceur assisted on a goal by Dove and then scored on an assist from junior Lindsey Connell (Tyngsboro, Mass.) to give Syracuse a 16-11 advantage. Dove netted the final goal of the game with 3:05 remaining to give the Orange its largest lead of the game, 17-11.

Quillinan had a hat trick with three goals to go along with an assist, while Brown finished with two goals. DePetris added a goal and an assist. Landy led Boston University with six goals.

Syracuse outshot the Terriers, 28-22, and picked up 17 ground balls to 12 for BU. The Orange won 17-of-30 draw controls, led by sophomore Sarah Holden's (Syracuse, N.Y.) career-best five, and caused 18 Terrier turnovers. Hogan finished with seven saves, while Terriers' goalkeeper Rachel Klein made six saves.

The Orange returns to conference play next weekend when it goes on the road to face Connecticut on Friday at 4 p.m. and Notre Dame on Sunday at 1 p.m.
