CICERO -- It's a 3-on-3 tournament that started in Gus Macker's driveway back in 1974. Now the popular event is heading to Cicero, and is expected to host more than 1,000 players and 10,000 spectators.
What's billed as the "world's largest outdoor basketball tournament" is slated for a 45 city tour this summer, but Central New Yorkers will have it all to themselves on August 7th and 8th at Drivers Village in Cicero. While the games are always fun to watch, there will also be a dunk contest, three-point shooting contest, music, inflatables, tons of food, and most of all - fun.
There are a number of different divisions and age groups, and you can register at Driver's Village, Price Chopper grocery stores, the Cicero Town Hall and The CanTeen.
You can also register online at www.macker.com. Also, check the website for more on the history of the tournament, and to watch plenty of videos on the tourney.
