SYRACUSE -- Winning the Section III C1 and C2 Championships was not good enough for either Watertown IHC or Fabius-Pompey, and both looking for a trip to the state finals on Thursday Night at Alliance Bank Stadium.
In the end it was IHC winning the overall Class C title with a 3-2 win, getting another crack at the state championships. Pitcher Dustin Exford got the win for IHC, giving up only five hits over seven innings, striking out eight and walking three. Most notably, Exford pitched out of a bases loaded situation with one out in the seventh inning, halting the comeback bid at 3-2.
Connor Caldwell's second inning RBI on an infield out got the scoring stated for the Cavaliers, adding two more runs in the sixth.
The Cavs now take on the Section IV champs on Monday in Rome.
