The J-D boys lacrosse team has won the New York State Championship for the 2nd time in four years. The Red Rams pulled away from Garden City in the 3rd quarter to win it all, despite missing two of their best players in Jake Bratek and Davi Sacco due to injury. Four players scored two goals in a very balanced attack.
In girls lacrosse, CNY won't have a state championship this year, as the Carthage Comets fought valiently but lost 10-9 to Shoreham-Wading River. The Comets trailed by three late in the 2nd half but cut the deficit to one with under 90 seconds to play. Unfortunately the Comets couldn't tie the ball game up and finished the year an impressive 19-3.
Softball provided some exciting dramatics for C-NS but ultimately a finish that wasn't so great for the Northstars. In the semifinals, C-NS topped North Rockland 2-1 when Sydney Harbaugh singled in the 7th and final inning allowing the game winning run to score. The Championship though didn't go as well, as the Section III Champs lost to Bay Shore 4-0.
