The 2009-2010 school year couldn't have gone much better for Westhill High School. Back in the fall, the football team won a Section III Championship, and made it all the way to the final four of New York State's Class B. Quite the accomplishment for sure, but the boys basketball team took it a little further, capturing a New York State Championship in Class B Basketball.
The latest championship, was perhaps the toughest. The baseball team at Westhill did something that has NEVER been done before in Section III, winning back-to-back state championships. It was no easy task either, the Warriors' championship contest with John F. Kennedy Catholic was delayed three times because of rain and or lightning. The game also had to be moved from Binghamton's NYSEG Stadium to nearby Union-Endicott High School because the field had too much water on it. The problem though, is a game was still in progress at U-E so the Warriors had to wait until 8 p.m. Oh, wait, there was another rain delay, so the team's contest didn't wrap up until well after 11 p.m. However, when it was all said and done, the team won handily 7-2, and forever enshrined itself in the Central New York record books.
