SYRACUSE -- The Syracuse Crunch announced Wednesday that they, along with their parent club, the Anaheim Ducks, have entered into an agreement with the Elmira Jackals to serve as the ECHL affiliate for both clubs.
"We are thrilled to be entering into a formal affiliation agreement with Elmira," said Ducks Executive Vice President/General Manager Bob Murray. "With ideal proximity to Syracuse and a premier facility in First Arena, Elmira will be a key partner in the development of our young players."
The close proximity of Elmira to Syracuse will be mutually beneficial to the Crunch and Jackals travel-wise, as the two cities are approximately 90 miles from one another.
Elmira enters its fourth season in the ECHL and 11th overall, having competed in the now defunct United Hockey League (UHL) from 2000-07. This will mark the second time in four seasons that the Jackals will serve as the Crunch's ECHL affiliate, having done so during the club's inaugural 2007-08 ECHL campaign.
