VERONA -- The Jim Boeheim Golf Classic presented by Metro Mattress was Thursday, July 29th at the Turning Stone Resort's Shenendoah Golf Course. Proceeds earned at the tournament went to the Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation.

Our own Matt Mulcahy was the emcee of the event and Boeheim was joined at the tournament by Orange Football Coach Doug Marrone, former hoops star Gerry McNamara, and former football star Chris Gedney.

Coach Boeheim used this time to relax, as he just returned from recruiting. He will also be leaving soon to assist Team USA in the basketball World Championships.

As far as next season goes, Coach is excited and thinks the team will be tough to beat.

“We think our freshman, our big guys are going to have good years but our nucleus is the returning veteran guys.” “We think we’ve got a good group and should have a good basketball team.”

The schedule for the coming season is not complete, however at this point the Orange is set to start its season November 16th against Detroit at the Carrier Dome as part of the Legends Classic, where win, lose, or draw SU will advance to semifinals in New York City. Also in the event is Michigan, Georgia Tech and UTEP.
