One of the top recruits of the 2011 class has committed to play basketball for the Syracuse Orange.
Rakeem Christmas announced his decision today on www.foxsports.com. Christmas is originally from St. Croix but has been playing in Philadelphia for the past few years.
According to ESPN.com the power forward is 6"9' and weighs 222 lbs. The site says "Christmas has continued to be a force around the basket. He is a high post short corner shooter and driver. Christmas scores in the lane with length and athletic ability over or around defenders. He runs the floor and finishes above the rim and can also make acrobatic plays."
Christmas told foxsports.com's Jeff Goodman he liked everything about the school when he visited and liked what he heard when he talked to Coach Boeheim about how he would fit in with the team. Christmas also says the fact he already knows several of the players on the Orange helped in his decision, as well.
Christmas was also considering Georgetown, Texas, Oklahoma, Florida and Rutgers.
