SYRACUSE -- According to Syracuse University Athletics, SU sophomore defensive back Ri’Shard Anderson will miss the 2010 season due to a shoulder injury on August 18.

An MRI taken on August 19 revealed an injury to the shoulder joint that will require surgery. As a result of the surgery and rehabilitation process, Anderson will not return for the 2010 season. The surgery will be performed by Dr. Irving Raphael in the near future.

The Miramar, Fla., native played in seven games in 2009, recording two tackles against Maine and Louisville.

The Orange kicks off the 2010 season at Akron on Saturday, September 4 (6:00 p.m., ESPN3). SU opens at home against Maine on September 18 at 7:15 p.m. in the Carrier Dome.
