SKANEATELES -- Former SU Star Tim Green has already proven he can accomplish just about anything he puts his mind to. He's played in the NFL, practices law, he's been a television commentator and newscaster, among other things. But to the Skaneateles Football team this summer he's been known simply as "coach", and he's given the team a whole new identity. Skaneateles only managed one win last season so the only way to go is up, and Green knows he can get them there.
At every level it's the same formula, if you want to win you've got to make yourself better, you've got to eliminate mistakes, eliminate turnovers, eliminate penalties, do those kind of things, and that only comes through hard word and practice.
Green has been busy recruiting more players than the team has seen in a while, increasing the roster size, and trying to instill a tougher attitude. The players have been lifting weights all summer long and playing in 7 on 7 scrimmages with players from other schools. They are more ready for their season than they've been in years, and it all starts with Homer on Friday night.
"It's great having a past NFL All-Star as your coach," says Junior wide receiver Brandon Barron, "every word that comes out of his mouth is encouragement, he really knows what he's doing, along with all the other coaches."
"Coach Green has helped us get a lot of comradery going," says Junior defensive end Kudik Abrams, "we're all here to play football and we've just got a lot of team chemistry right now."
