The first game of year was special for everyone involved, but no doubt, it was the most special for senior running back Delone Carter. Carter is an Akron native, a graduate of nearby Copley High School. With plenty of friends and family in attendance Carter was spectacular, rushing for 91 yards on 26 carries with one touchdown. After the game a touching moment ensued where Carter jumped up so he could hug his family and his ever-famous smile was shining.
It's hard to believe but Delone's been with the team since 2006, and this is his final season in Orange. Finally, he was able to play in front of the hometown crowd in front of all his loved ones, and it was truly a special time for all. "It's just great" said Delone's mother April Carter-White. "We're so happy that he's here and it's just something that he's always wanted. He's excited, we're excited, the whole family is" she added.
The Orange travels to Washington this weekend for a 7:00 battle on the west coast.
