SYRACUSE -- It's a new football season, and this year Syracuse University wants to give fans plenty to cheer about on the field - and in the stands.

Scott Sidwell, SU's Executive Senior Associate Athletic Director, says the university is taking extra steps this season to make the dome more fan friendly. "We want to offer more opportunities for all of those people now they can come up with all of these amenities and say now I can be part of something special," he says.

To help fans be part of something special in the Carrier Dome, SU is going high tech. Sidwell says fans with smart phones will now be able to get real time stats and scores anytime during the game from their seats by clicking on the SU Athletics application. If you don't have, it don't worry. Sidwell says fans can still get the info on one of the many monitors throughout the Dome. "So if you're at the concession stand in the concourse and you see one of our many screens we have in and around the Dome, you'll be able to get up to date information not only on Syracuse but other games across the country," he says.

If you're looking for a more luxurious experience while you watch the game, Club 44 will now be available at football games. For the first time this year wine will be sold at the Dome as well. Those buying tickets online will have more gates where they can pick up their tickets and enter the Dome. Finally there will be a section for families only at the Dome.

Sidwell says the upgrades are all part of a plan to make football games at the Dome something everyone can enjoy. "We're making it a destination event. People can come regardless whether or not they know what an X or O or wide receiver or defensive back is," he says.

SU student Tess Hoyer thinks making the Dome more fan friendly is a good move. "I think its incorporating a lot more family fun in here but than it is also for the college kids so everybody can come to the games," she says.
