CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) - Gino Gordon ran for 158 yards and a touchdown to help Harvard defeat Cornell 31-17 on Saturday.

The Crimson (3-1, 1-1 Ivy League) finished with 314 yards on the ground for their second 300 yard rushing game in as many weeks. Harvard ran for 311 yards a week before against Lafayette.

The ground attack proved a potent weapon for Harvard, which held the ball for 31:18 minutes compared to 28:42 by Cornell (1-3, 0-2).

Gordon ran for the only score of the first half - a 19-yard TD with 3:35 left.

The Crimson pushed their lead to 24-3 on a 43-yard touchdown run by Rich Zajoski with 8:29 remaining to pull away.

Treavor Scales had 93 yards on 11 carries and Colton Chapple was 16-for-35 with 191 yards and a touchdown for Harvard.

The Big Red were led by Jeff Matthews with 125 yards and two touchdowns on 16-for-33 passing.
