CBA's Olivia Messenio serves it up.
Section III Champions were crowned for high school tennis players on Tuesday at Gold's Gym in Liverpool.
In Division One Singles, Auburn's Claire Minnoe captured a Section III title, and in Division Three that honor was earned by CBA Sophomore Olivia Messenio. Messenio defeated her teammate Colleen Cavanaugh in the semifinals and another one of her teammates in Shilpa Kamani in the championship. The great thing about girls tennis is that the top four in each division do advance to the State Playoffs, so Cavanaugh and Kamani still have a chance to win a championship.
CBA also won the Division Three Doubles title with the team of Becky Scullin and Nicole Kalhorn, in Division One F-M's duo of Carly Romano and Allison Vizgaitis captured the championship.
The New York State Playoffs get going Thursday at Drumlins in Syracuse.
