Whitesboro's Mike Bunal makes a diving, one-handed catch
Two Section III teams were in action Friday night in state quarterfinal play at ES-M.
Walton: 20 Onondaga:0 F
The Tigers couldn't get any offense going in this one as the turnaround season ends in a shutout loss.
The score was 6-0 for much of the game until two Walton touchdowns late in the 4th quarter sealed Onondaga's fate.
Just 2-6 last year, the Tigers were one of the biggest surprises in Section III this year, winning a Section III championship and advancing to the state quarterfinals.
Whitesboro: 40 Maine-Endwell: 14 F
The Warriors and Spartans went back and forth for much of the first half until Whitesboro scored 27 unanswered points to pull away.
Maine-Endwell was leading 14-13 in the 2nd half until two consecutive Warrior TDs gave Whitesboro a lead they would never relinquish. The end of the first half was capitalized by an incredible one-handed touchdown catch by Mike Bunal.
Whitesboro moves to 10-1 with the victory.
