The day after his 22nd birthday, Syracuse Orange punter Rob Long underwent brain surgery to remove a benign tumor.
The senior captain of the football team was in Philadelphia for the operation. After suffering from bad headaches for several weeks, Long alerted the Syracuse sports medicine staff and an MRI soon revealed the tumor.
On Monday, Long updated his Twitter account multiple times and even tweeted a picture of the Thomas Jefferson Hospital staff shaving his head for Tuesday's operation. He tweeted:
"Thank you everyone for the support and prayers. I'm having a great birthday hanging out and just enjoying the day!! :)"
"Got the hair cut!! Ahhh http://yfrog.com/h2nnbtvj"
"its my 22nd Birthday and I'm On the way for the final set of MRI scans today and then surgery tomorrow!! Lets Go!! #staypositive"
