Syracuse University linebacker Doug Hogue and center Ryan Bartholomew earned invitations to represent Syracuse in 86th annual East-West Shrine Game® on January 22, 2011, at the Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida (4:00 p.m. EST, NFL Network). Hogue and Bartholomew join SU running back Delone Carter on the 2010 East roster. Sixty-eight other former Syracuse players have participated in the East-West Shrine Game®.
A 2010 All-BIG EAST First Team selection, Hogue started all 13 games for the Orange. He ranks seventh in the BIG EAST with 7.4 tackles per game and tied for 12th with 0.79 tackles for loss per game. His 26.5 career tackles for loss rank ninth in Syracuse history. At West Virginia, earned the Defensive Player of the Week Award from both the Walter Camp Football Foundation and BIG EAST Conference after recording two interceptions, leading the defense with 10 tackles, including 1.5 tackles for a loss of yards and an assisted sack, and breaking up a pass
A 2010 SU team captain, Bartholomew started all 13 games at center for the Orange. He anchored the offensive line that blocked for 1,000-yard rusher Delone Carter. At Cincinnati, he recovered a fumble in the endzone to record his first career touchdown. Bartholomew earned All-BIG EAST Third Team honors from Phil Steele magazine.
While the teams are divided by East and West, the players come together for the beneficiary of the event, Shriners Hospitals for Children®, an international pediatric specialty health care system of 22 hospitals.
Former NFL coaches Wade Phillips and Dan Reeves will coach opposite each other in the East-West Shrine Game®.
