It's hard to believe, but in two weeks on February 22nd, the Section III basketball playoffs will begin. Certainly with all of the snow cancellations the Selection Sunday will really feel like the NCAA Selection Sunday as games will have to made up right down the wire.

On Tuesday teams and fans alike braved the snowy and cold conditions to make it to their destinations, and plenty of fantastic games took place.

Starting in Class AA, C-NS was able to hold off Auburn 75-64 thanks in part to 28 points from Zach Coleman. Coleman scored 15 in the first quarter and never looked back, as the Northstars are poised to make it two Section III Titles in a row.

In Class A, ES-M staged a furious rally, but Fowler was able to hold off the Spartans 64-57, Larry Rivers led the Falcons with 18 points.

Elsewhere in Boys basketball:

West Genny edged Nottingham 62-58

Bishop Ludden beat neighborly rival Solvay 55-48

Chittenango beat Homer 63-55

In girls hoops:

Onondaga beat LaFayette 49-42

ES-M beat Fowler by nine points.

Jordan-Elbridge beat Bishop Grimes 56-35.

Nottingham beat West Genesee 39-33.
