The Syracuse men's lacrosse team took the outside practice field of Wednesday for the first time this season. It was a chance to practice on a regulation field with the Carrier Dome still in basketball mode for Wednesday's SU Women's basketball game.
Syracuse has already had some pre-season competition. The Orange split the first two exhibition games against Hofstra and Division II LeMoyne. In the first contest against the 9th ranked Pride, the Orange were defeated 6-5. In the next game, Syracuse went back to it's winning ways and defeated cross town rival LeMoyne 10-5. A week later, the Orange took the field against Maryland and Canisius. In the first game, Syracuse defeated the Terrapins 11-9. Stephen Keogh and Tim Desko led the Orange in scoring with three goals each. JoJo Marasco also chipped in with two goals and two assists. Even though it was a pre-season game, the players approached the game as it was a regular season game. Later that day, the starters took a break as the backups played all four quarters, beating Canisius 10-6. Collin Donahue led the Orange in points with one goal and three assists. Syracuse finished 3-1 during the pre-season.
The regular season officially gets underway this Sunday when Syracuse takes on the Denver Pioneers at the Carrier Dome at 1 PM. Denver is ranked 12th in the Inside Lacrosse pre-season poll, and is led by second year head coach Bill Tierney. The former Princeton head coach led Denver to a 12-5 overall record in his first year.
