We all remember the saga that was the 2010 World Lacrosse Championships, where the Iroquois were not allowed to use their own passports to travel. The Iroquois team refused to compromise their identity and use United States passports, and hence was not able to participate in the tournament in England.

The team was honored Sunday, at the National Lacrosse League All-Star Game where Onondaga Nation Faith Keeper Oren Lyons said "The 2010 team was the best team the world never saw".

After the presentation, I was able to catch up with Lyons. He assured me measures have been taken to avoid what happened in 2010. In fact, the Czech Republic, host of the 2011 Indoor-Lacrosse Championships, has agreed to accept the Iroquois Passports. He says now it is up to the U.S. State Dept. Lyons also said the Nation is in talks with Finland, host of the 2012 games, hoping for a similar acceptance.

The next huge event, like the 2010 games, takes place in 2014, in Denver Colorado.
