Glens Falls, NY (April 2, 2011) – After scoring 40 goals over their previous eight games, the Syracuse Crunch offense was kept in check tonight, as they dropped a 3-0 decision to the Adirondack Phantoms at the Glens Falls Civic Center, breaking their season-high five game win streak.

Adirondack scored three times in a five minute span late in the second on goals from Eric Wellwood, Kevin Marshall and Matt Read, and Michael Leighton stopped all 25 shots he faced for the Phantoms.  J.P. Levasseur got his first start in four games for the Crunch, denying 33 of 36 shots in the losing effort.

Adirondack finally broke the scoreless tie with a power play goal from Wellwood at the 12:31 mark of the second period.  Wellwood took a pass at the point from Luke Pither, skated in a few strides and fired a wrister that eluded Levasseur to make it a 1-0 game.

Just 53 seconds later, Adirondack caught the Crunch back on their heels when Marshall’s blast from the right point found its way through a screen and into the back of the cage to make it 2-0.

The Phantoms again seized the momentum and took a 3-0 lead when J.P. Teswuide found a wide open Matt Read in the slot, who snapped a bid past Levasseur at the 17:30 mark of the second.

The Crunch return home to The Oncenter War Memorial Arena tomorrow afternoon for a 3 p.m. matinee match-up with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
