SYRACUSE -- Orange men’s lacrosse senior goalie John Galloway of Syracuse was selected as the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week for the second straight week and the third time this season on Monday. In addition, senior midfielder Jovan Miller of Syracuse was named to the conference’s weekly honor roll. The duo was recognized for their performances in Syracuse’s 13-11 victory against Duke in Sunday’s Konica Minolta Big City Classic.Galloway made a season-high 16 saves against the Blue Devils and was named the Konica Minolta Player of the Game. In the process, Galloway set the NCAA Division I career wins record, earning his 52nd victory. He eclipsed Scott Bacigalupo’s previous mark of 51 wins for Princeton from 1991-94.
Miller scored a career-best four points (2g, 2a) in the contest. He also contributed one ground ball and a caused turnover. Miller has nine goals on the year, the most of any Syracuse midfielder.
Syracuse returns to action on Saturday, April 9 at Princeton. The Orange and Tigers will square off at 4 p.m. at Princeton Stadium. The game will be televised live nationally on ESPNU.
