Last week Syracuse punter Rob Long tweeted that his brain tumor was gone. This week, he had more good news.

Long tweeted Tuesday “Resting up today for my first professional tryout with the Philadelphia Eagles tomorrow.

            Long is a Pennsylvania native.

The Eagles current punter is Australian, Sav Rocca. Rocca took 73 punts for the Eagles last season with an average of 43.8 yards.

Rob Long took 64 punts with the Orange in 2010 before leaving the team to battle the malignant tumor. Long’s average punt was 43.3 yards.

Coach Marrone told us Tuesday that he was happy for his player, and he is sure this won't be the last tryout for Long.
