CNY Central Athlete Nora Barry
This week's Bryant and Stratton CNY Central Athlete is one of the best goal scorers in Section III.
Nora Barry is a senior captain for the Marcellus girls lacrosse team.
Barry is an adept goal scorer, she ranks second in Marcellus school history with 226 goals. She attributes most of her success to good, old-fashioned, hard work.
"I focus a lot on shooting, I practice in my yard before every game," Barry says. "So eventually, it just becomes second nature."
Part of the reason it's second nature is because Nora has been playing lacrosse since she was in second grade.
Nora is also a team captain. Her teammates say she has the rare ability to make the players around her better.
Marcellus head coach Dick Lundblad has coached at the school for over 10 years, and he has some high praise for Nora.
"She is definitely the hardest worker we've ever had and the most devoted to the game," Lundblad says.
In the rare moments when Nora isn't playing lacrosse, she also does ballet.
She will continue her lacrosse career next year at the University of Florida.
Congratulations to Nora Barry....this week's Bryant and Stratton CNY Central Athlete.
