The Turning Stone Resort Championship may be history, but the Notah Begay Foundation Challenge will be returning to Turning Stone on July 5th. A media conference has been called for this coming Tuesday with Ray Halbritter, Oneida Nation Representative and CEO of Nation Enterprises, and four-time PGA TOUR winner Notah Begay. The purpose of the conference is to announce details of the 2011 Notah Begay III (NB3) Foundation Challenge. A press release sent to CNYCentral stated "The NB3 Foundation Challenge will feature four PGA TOUR players and four celebrities. A partial list of PGA TOUR and celebrity participants will be announced at the news conference. The remaining field will be announced at a later date."
Begay had expressed concern following last year's event that PGA appearance fees and restrictions might make it difficult for the charity event to continue, but that is apparently not the case. While last years event was a big hit with retired golfers like Annika Sorenstam and Lorena Ochoa on hand along with PGA stars like Rickie Fowler, Camilio Villegas, Hunter Mahan and Anthony Kim, the big question this year will be if Tiger Woods might return. Of course, Tiger and Begay are very good friends, and Woods took part in the 2009 version of the Notah Begay Challenge, before his life and marriage unraveled.
