Former Henninger Coach Frank Walter
It was a surprise Frank Walter won't ever forget.
Walter, the former modified and JV Coach at Henninger (Lincoln Middle School), walked into the back dining room at Spaghetti Warehouse to a rousing ovation from his former players.
Those players converged on the Syracuse dining spot to honor their coach, and most importantly, recall the "glory days" and toss around stories of those basketball seasons from the 1980's through the 1990's when Walter mentored many of them.
Walter was at a loss for words, moved that the players he strived to turn into respectable men, showed their gratitutde, and showed how much Coach Walter meant to them.
