VERONA -- Tiger Woods is returning to Atunyote Golf Club this summer for the Notah Begay III Foundation Challenge.

Oneida Indian Nation CEO Ray Halbritter announced Tuesday afternoon part of the field for the annual challenge. The field includes PGA Tour star Rickie Fowler, Notah Begay III, and perhaps even more surprising than Tiger’s commitment is that Halbritter announced NFL quarterbacks Tony Romo and Sam Bradford will be playing.

Halbritter say that more celebrities and golfers will be announced in the coming weeks. For now he is ecstatic that Woods will be playing at Atunyote.

“We couldn’t be more delighted. The field is incredible. Having Tiger come back, and an up-and-coming star like Rickie Fowler, and the added benefit of the NFL stars… we’re always delighted to partner with Notah to address the childhood obesity problem. It’s a rampant problem in the Indian country.”

Halbritter says in order to get Woods to play this year, they had to schedule him more than a year ago.

Tiger's good friend and teammate at Stanford University, Notah Begay III, was supposed to be at the Turning Stone Resort this afternoon to make the announcement, but plane problems forced him to miss the news conference. So Turning Stone made it official that Woods will be joined by Romo and Bradford.

Woods won the skins game challenge two years ago before his life was turned upside down by a sex scandal.

The fourth annual NB3 Challenge will be staged at Turning Stone Resort and Casino's Atunyote Golf Club on July 5. The format this year is a two-person team, best-ball shootout over 18 holes.

Begay, who also will play, said the rest of the field of eight will be announced before June 1.

The Challenge is the chief fundraiser for Begay's charity, the NB3 Foundation, which has a goal of fighting obesity and diabetes among Native American youth. The event is a collaboration between Begay's foundation and the resort's owner, the Oneida Indian Nation of New York.

Information from the Associated Press was used in this report.
