Syracuse University linebacker Doug Hogue is the second Orange football standout to be chosen in the 2011 National Football League Draft. The 2010 All-BIG EAST First Team selection was chosen with the 157th pick in the annual selection process by the Detroit Lions. Hogue joins former teammate Delone Carter in this year’s draft. Carter was chosen with the 119th pick by the Indianapolis Colts.
The Yonkers, N.Y. native is the first Syracuse linebacker to be chosen in the draft since Keith Bulluck was a first-round selection by the Tennessee Titans in 2000. Hogue, who moved to linebacker before the 2009 season, ranks
ninth on the Syracuse’s career tackles for loss record list with 26.5. In 2010, he posted 95 tackles, including 60 solo, two interceptions and one forced fumble.
The Lions finished third in the NFC North in 2010 with a 6-10 record.
