Poll Question: Who needs to step up the most next season?
The lone senior of the SU basketball team continues his quest for the NBA this weekend, one of 44 draft-eligible players invited to this weekend's NBA draft combine in New Jersey. Jackson hopes to work off his impressive senior season where he led the Big East Conference in both rebounding and shots blocked. Jackson lost 25 pounds heading into his senior year and understandably turned the heads of many NBA scouts.
Meanwhile, Jackson's former SU teammate Kris Joseph will soon get a taste of what it will be like to be a senior leader, and told us at the Cuse Awards last night that he's gotten off to a head start as he looks ahead to next year.
"(I'm) just working out and getting prepared for next season," says Joseph, "I'm looking forward to meeting the new guys, and as far as the people who are still here, just motivating them to work out. It's hard to find the motivation when you're not in season but I'm just trying to, as a leader of this team, get these guys motivated for next season."
The Orange have a strong freshmen class coming in, including Michael Carter-Williams, Trevor Cooney and Rakeem Christmas.
"I'm looking forward to next season, I'm looking forward to see what can be done because we had an exceptional season. It didn't end where we wanted it too, but we have some great recruits and we have a great returning class and I think we're going to be well prepared."
