It's rare enough having a perfect season, but the Jamesville-Dewitt Red Rams are one win away from pulling it off for the second straight season. The team was back on the practice field on Thursday afternoon, following their 9-6 win over Irondequoit in the Class B State Semifinal on Wednesday night in Rochester. The win improved the team to 21-0, and 43-0 if you include last years undefeated and State Championship season.
"Honestly, I don't think we take it for granted," explains Senior Midfielder Alex Hatem, "this year we've had one thing on our mind and it's been winning a State Championship. That's all that's on our mind, and we just want to keep moving forward."
"The best team doesn't always win," says Head Coach Jamie Archer, "we believe that we're the best going in, but that doesn't mean anything. You've still gotta go out there and prove it, you've gotta go out there and prove that you deserve to win, it's not just gonna be handed to you."
And with one more win needed against Garden City on Saturday to pull off their 2nd Straight State Championship and undefeated season, the players were still practicing like they needed it, not ready to start losing anytime soon.
"Winning is fun ,and we want to keep it that way" says Junior Attackman Deke Burns, "we're just looking to have two good practices, that's kind of been the theme for us this year, being solid in practice usually correlates to having a nice game".
