It's hard to believe but one month from now, all levels of football (including if the NFL lockout ends) will be in training camp.
For high schools, camps open up on Monday, August 15th but this weekend provided a bit of a sneak preview.
a 7-on-7 tournament was held at Cicero-North Syracuse high school with 12 teams involved. Most were Section III teams, but some came from out of the area, including the tournament winner, LaSalle from the Albany area.
The semifinals included three Central New York teams; CBA, Auburn, and Nottingham. CBA made the championship with a win over Auburn, but fell to LaSalle.
While winning a tournament is always nice it's the experience gained and lessons learned that help the teams most, says C-NS Head Coach Steve Ellis.
