We thought Saturday's game was the showdown. Turns out it's just the appetizer.
Onondaga Team #2 (younger team) took out Onondaga Team #1 on Saturday 7-5 at Marcellus High School and in the process put themselves in the winners bracket for the Babe Ruth Regional Final.
The upset was rather surprising, almost the equivalent of a Junior Varsity team beating a Varsity squad.
With the loss, Onondaga Team #1 had to play for the right to advance to Sunday's Championship, which they did with a 10-6 win over Metro NYC.
That sets the stage for a fun-filled Sunday, starting at noon, the Onondaga teams will face off once again. If Team #2 wins, they represent the Mid-Atlantic Region in the Babe Ruth World Series. If Team #1 wins, there will be one more showdown with our local teams for all the marbles.
