CBA celebrates its 2011 Pro-Junior Challenge Championship
This Friday the Alliance Bank Golf Classic of the Futures Tour tees off at Drumlins Country Club but the excitement for our local high school girls golfers began on Monday.
The Alliance Bank Golf Classic Pro-Junior Challenge featured a dozen high school teams pairing up with a Futures Tour pro with the best score for 9 holes taking home the nifty trophy.
The round had its fair share of great shots; from Chittenango's Meg Arnold sinking a 30-footer for birdie on 18 to Lauren Petty driving the ball a ton to Sarah Gosek from Oswego chipping to within a foot on the 18th the high schoolers definitely held their own.
In the end though, it was Christian Brothers Academy taking home the crown via a tie-breaker with Baldwinsville. Both teams finished with a 29 score for the 9 holes, the first tie breaker went to the scorecard of the toughest hole (handicap rating) where both schools birdied, on the 2nd toughest hole however, CBA birdied and B'Ville scored a par.
The fun isn't done just yet, there are pro-ams on Wednesday and Thursday before the first round gets going Friday morning. The Futures Tour is the developmental tour for the LPGA with the top-10 players each year earning their LPGA card.
