CNY Teams begin practice on Monday
It's a sure sign that the summer is beginning to wind down, but it's one that football fans don't seem to mind. Section III high school football teams took to the practice field for the first time on Monday following a summer of working out in the gym and dreaming at the chance of a new season. That new season will officially start on September 2nd for most teams, but just getting the chance to see their teams on the football field again today was a great feeling for the coaches
"The first day went great," says C-NS Head Coach Steve Ellis, "especially with the weather being what it was. The kids worked hard, they're excited on the first day, the (cooler) weather helped them and they've really been getting after it all day long."
"It's great to be out here," says F-M Head Coach Paul Muench, "all the workouts and the weight room days are done. We finally get to practice some football and it gets us closer to full pads and then to game day, so it's exciting for us."
F-M was especially excited today to get a glimpse of their brand new field turf. While the field is still under construction, the Hornets were on the practice field, focussed on getting their team ready to win games.
"It's really exciting, says running back Andrew Fletcher, "we've been waiting all summer to play, we've done a lot of team stuff in the off season to get ready."
