FAYETTEVILLE -- The 2011 high school football season marks the beginning of a new era for Fayetteville-Manlius with the building of their new turf field.
The Hornets former natural grass playing surface forced teams to practice or play on other nearby fields on many occasions because of poor playing conditions mainly after inclement weather. A grassroots campaign blossomed into countless donations that raised the necessary funds, and the district got the go-ahead this past spring.
Now that football training camp has opened up, and the field is just about ready to go and the Hornets can't wait to go to work on the new turf playing surface, which from afar looks ready. They also hope in 2011 they can build on a 2010 season where they made it to the Section III Final Four.
The Hornets open up the new field on September 16th against Oswego.
