They're always one of the most competitive teams in Section III Football, and despite an abhorration losing season in 2010, the signs are pointing to the sky being the limit for the Northstars.
Here's why:
While talented, the 2010 team only featured 15 seniors (out of 51 players) so naturally, the underclassmen had a much bigger role on and off the field than would be ideal for Coach Steve Ellis. This year, all of those underclassmen are back, one year older, one year wiser. And the senior class, 28 strong this campaign wants to make sure their team gets back to the Section III playoffs, and perhaps beyond in 2011.
The Northstars open up the campaign with their northernmost Class AA rival Central Square, who is on the comeback trail, that game is followed by a home date with RFA on September 9th and a road date with Corcoran September 16th. Should C-NS make it through that stretch in favorable fashion, games with Nottingham, CBA, and arch rival Liverpool are all at home in 3 consecutive weeks.
Granted, all of those games home or away or tough, but C-NS has the right mindset heading into the 2011 season.
