Just about every single SU fan is excited with the Orange football team's 1-0 start here in 2011.

Just about every one.

The one who maybe wasn't is legendary SU linebacker Joe Ehrmann.

Ehrmann was an All-American for the Orange in the 1970's but now roots for SU and Wake Forest. Ehrmann's son is a starting linebacker for the Demon Deacons and recorded four tackles including one for loss in Thursday night's season opener.

Ehrmann said at halftime of Thursday's game "I hope SU goes 11-1". Ehrmann went on to say "I've always rooted for Syracuse, I'm a Syracuse guy. I hope my son does well, stays healthy, but it's a win-win for me."

I asked him what he thought about the turnaround Doug Marrone has instilled in the program and he said "I think it's absolutely terrific, not only what he's done on the field but he's brought in quality players and good citizens. (It's) very positive for Syracuse."

Ehrmann now runs Coach For America which gives student athletes a "game plan" for life.
