Things are looking bright in Camillus these days, in part, because the West Genesee High School football team is 3-0 to start the season.
The team leveled Oswego 66-0 in week one, took care of Corcoran in week two, and handled its business against Auburn this past Friday to earn the perfect start.
The true test will come this Friday.
The undefeated Wildcats play host to Fayetteville-Manlius (2-1) this Friday at 6:00 p.m. at the turf field at West Genesee. F-M has also looked impressive, it's only loss coming to Corning of Section IV in a game where the Hornets still put up 50 points in a losing effort.
For West Genesee the goal is to keep climbing. We all remember its magical season of 2007 when the 'Cats won a New York State Championship. In 2008 Henninger upended Genny in the Section III title game and in 2009 the 'Cats missed out on the playoffs. A resurgence began with a return to the post-season in 2010 and if the first three weeks of the 2011 campaign are any indication, the resurgence is already here.
It's our Toyota High School Game of the Week this Friday, make sure you check out Friday Night Lights on NBC-3 at 11:15 p.m. for full highlights of the Wildcats' battle with F-M.
